No API Required
Passpoint Connect does not require a cloud API integration with the WiFi controller. It is configured at the access point level using standard Hotspot 2.0 parameters and Wiacom RADIUS infrastructure — available on all vendors that support Hotspot 2.0.How It Works
Profile provisioned
A Passpoint profile is delivered to the user’s device — via OTA provisioning, MDM, or a one-time onboarding flow.
Device detects SSID
When the device is within range of a Wiacom-enabled Passpoint SSID, it matches the profile automatically.
RADIUS authentication
The Wiacom RADIUS infrastructure authenticates the device using EAP credentials embedded in the profile.
Key Capabilities
- Automatic WiFi onboarding — seamless, invisible connection for returning users
- Profile or certificate-based — supports EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP
- RADIUS-backed — per-device identity and audit trail
- Roaming-style access — consistent experience across multiple locations and venues
- OpenRoaming-ready — compatible with WBA OpenRoaming for inter-operator roaming
Use Cases
| Use case | Description |
|---|---|
| Hotel guest automatic WiFi | Guest connects on arrival with no portal, no password |
| Loyalty member recognition | Returning customers connect automatically |
| Enterprise MDM-managed devices | Profiles deployed via MDM; devices auto-connect |
| Public transit | Seamless WiFi across a transit network with one profile |
| OpenRoaming | Interoperable access across participating global networks |
