Guest Connect is the primary self-service onboarding channel for public venues. Guests register by visiting a URL or scanning a QR code — without connecting to WiFi first. After registration, Wiacom captures their identity and GDPR consent, then applies the access workflow configured for that location.

How It Works

1

Guest arrives

A guest arrives at your venue and wants to connect to WiFi.
2

Guest registers

They visit your Guest Connect URL or scan your QR code and complete the registration form.
3

Identity captured

Wiacom stores their identity and GDPR consent record.
4

Access granted

Wiacom applies the access feature configured for the location — and sends a confirmation email with credentials if applicable (Key Access or WiFi Pass).
5

Returning visit

On subsequent visits, the guest is recognized by email and their record is updated without creating duplicates.

Guest Connect supports all Wiacom identity methods:
  • Email sign-up and confirmation

  • OAuth / SSO
  • Pre-registration (admin-created)
  • Custom business integrations

Guest Connect and Access Features

Guest Connect is an onboarding channel — it is independent of the access feature used. After a guest registers through Guest Connect, they receive access via whichever feature is configured for the location:
Access featureWhat the guest receives
Key AccessConfirmation email with the shared WiFi passphrase and QR code
WiFi PassConfirmation email with their unique personal passphrase and QR code
PortalMAC-based authorization (if Guest Connect is pre-registration for a portal SSID)
Passpoint ConnectPasspoint profile delivery
Guest Connect can also work without a connected WiFi controller — useful for venues that want to collect registrations before their WiFi infrastructure is connected, or where the shared password is managed manually.

Privacy and Data Rights

After registration, guests receive access to a self-service privacy page where they can view, correct, or request deletion of their personal data and consent records. This is provided by Wiacom automatically for all Guest Connect registrations.
