WiFi Pass on Meraki

WiFi Pass uses Meraki’s Identity PSK without RADIUS feature. Each guest receives their own unique personal passphrase — authenticating them individually on a shared SSID, with no RADIUS server required.

Requirements

  • Meraki firmware MR 30.1 or later on all APs in the network
  • Wi-Fi 5 Wave 2 or newer access points — see full model list
  • At least one Group Policy configured in the Meraki network
  • SSID set to Identity PSK without RADIUS in the Meraki Dashboard

What the Guest Experiences

1

Registers

Guest registers at your Guest Connect URL.
2

Provisioned

A unique personal passphrase is provisioned on the SSID.
3

Email received

Guest receives an email with their passphrase and a QR code — one tap to connect.
4

Connects

Guest connects using standard WPA2 — no app, no profile required.

Provisioning Modes

ModeHow it works
InstantPassphrase created on form submission; shown on the thank-you page and sent by email immediately
ConfirmedGuest clicks a confirmation link first; passphrase is sent in a follow-up email after verification

Credential Expiry

Configure passphrases to expire after a set number of days. Wiacom handles expiry automatically on an hourly schedule. When a passphrase expires, the guest is disconnected and can re-register to get a new one.

Managing Credentials

Go to WiFi Pass → Credentials to view and manage all guest passphrases:
ActionEffect
SuspendGuest is immediately disconnected; credential can be restored
RestoreRe-activates a suspended credential
DeletePermanently removes from Wiacom and the Meraki controller
Expire nowForces immediate expiry

Limits

ItemLimit
Identity PSKs per SSIDUp to 5,000 (requires MR 30.1+)
Portal + WiFi Pass on same SSIDNot supported — use separate SSIDs

Troubleshooting

Check that the SSID is still configured as Identity PSK without RADIUS in the Meraki Dashboard. Confirm the credential has not been suspended or deleted in Wiacom under WiFi Pass → Credentials.
Ensure at least one Group Policy exists in the Meraki network. Go to Network → Group Policies in the Meraki Dashboard and create a default policy if none is listed.
The passphrase may have expired. Check the expiry timestamp in the guest’s credential record under WiFi Pass → Credentials. The guest can re-register to receive a new passphrase.
