Portal on Meraki uses an open SSID with a Wiacom splash URL and RADIUS-based per-session authentication. When a guest connects and opens a browser, Meraki redirects them to the Wiacom portal. After completing the onboarding flow, Wiacom generates a per-session encrypted credential and sends it in a RADIUS Access-Request. Meraki grants internet access on RADIUS Access-Accept, and calls the splash MAC authorization API to suppress the redirect on reconnection within the session.

Authentication Model

Wiacom uses per-session generated credentials for RADIUS authentication — not the guest’s MAC address. A unique username and password are generated for each portal session and sent to the Wiacom RADIUS server.

What Wiacom Pushes (API Mode)

  • Custom splash URL pointing to the Wiacom portal for the location
  • RADIUS authentication and accounting server details
  • Walled garden entries for the Wiacom portal domain

Walled Garden

Add to the Meraki splash walled garden for social login support:
ProviderDomains
Facebook / Instagram*.facebook.com, *.fbcdn.net, *.akamaihd.net, connect.facebook.net, *.instagram.com
Google*.google.com, *.googleapis.com, *.gstatic.com
Twitter / X*.twitter.com, *.twimg.com
LinkedIn*.linkedin.com, *.licdn.net, *.licdn.com
CDN*.akamaitechnologies.com, *.akamaiedge.net, *.akamaized.net, *.amazonaws.com, *.fastly.net

Session Management

  • Session duration is configurable per location under Portal → Session Settings
  • On session expiry, the guest is redirected to the portal on next connection

Troubleshooting

Confirm the SSID is set to Open and a custom splash option is selected. Try http://neverssl.com — HTTPS traffic is not redirected by the captive portal.
Check RADIUS Accounting is enabled at the Meraki organisation level. Verify RADIUS settings pushed by Wiacom under Inventory → Controllers → [SSID row].
Add the relevant social provider domains to the Meraki splash walled garden.
